Astronics Launches Next-Gen Automated Circuit Board Test and Diagnostic Systems

Integrated robotic flying probe system with PinPoint hardware
to automate circuit board test and provide greater accuracy and speed

EAST AURORA, NY, August 29, 2023Astronics Corporation (Nasdaq: ATRO), a leading provider of advanced technologies for global aerospace, defense, and other mission critical industries, announced the launch of its ATS-AutoPoint Multi-Axis Robotic System (APMARS) and ATS-AutoPoint Desktop (APDT) which automatically diagnose circuit board assembly and component malfunctions.  Providing greater speed and accuracy, the addition of flying probe technology fully automates the test and diagnostic capabilities of Astronics’ PinPoint hardware and TestVue software.  The solutions readily address demanding circuit card diagnostic and test requirements, obsolescence issues, and life cycle sustainment needs in one, integrated system.

"Maintenance and troubleshooting of critical electronics requires investigation at the component level and our PinPoint solutions enable our customers to quickly analyze systems and identify issues to develop maintenance solutions well past defined support lives.  Our next generation ATS-APMARS provides complete automation of this process with dual flying probe robotics.  This eliminates errors, reduces time of test, and increases system availability, providing greater confidence in test outcomes and required maintenance and support actions," noted Tim Webb, Senior Director of Sales at Astronics Test Systems.

Astronics' PinPoint hardware enables the maintainance and repair of electronic assemblies even without the availability of technical data, such as in the case of obsolete or aging systems that have little to no original equipment manufacturer (OEM) support.  Fully automating the PinPoint system on ATS-APMARS and ATS-APDT eliminates human error associated with mis-probing while significantly reducing the probing process time and number of touches per pin.

The ATS-APDT is a desktop system with a single, robotic probe, delivering fast, accurate measurements.  Should the application require more substantial fault coverage, the system can be scaled to include a second probe, similar to the ATS-APMARS.  Either system can include an optional custom cabinet to contain the PinPoint hardware or selected 3rd party instrumentation.

See the ATS-APMARS in action this week in booth #321 at AUTOTESTCON in National Harbor, MD, August 29-31, 2023.
